Maroc Telecom is now a Tobacco free company. It was the first company to join, in 2007, the national program “Tobacco-Free High Schools, Junior High Schools, and Companies” launched by Her Royal Highness PRINCESS LALLA SALMA, the president of the Lalla Salma Foundation for Cancer Prevention and Treatment.
An action plan has been set up with the aim of reducing the number of smokers. Thanks to measures such as awareness campaigns about the dangers of tobacco, medical assistance, stop-smoking aids almost free and prohibition of smoking in the workplace to protect nonsmokers, more than 900 employees had quit smoking and 350 others reduced their consumption of cigarettes.
Maroc Telecom was the first and only company to receive in 2010 the "Company without tobacco" Gold Label of the Lalla Salma Foundation for Cancer Prevention and Treatment; this label rewards the efforts made in the fight against smoking and has been given to Maroc Telecom every year since 2010.
In 2014, during the official awards ceremony presided over by Her Royal Highness Princess Lalla Salma, and which was held in the auditorium of Maroc Telecom, the Princess Lalla Salma has unveiled a commemorative plaque giving the final status “Tobacco Free Company” to Maroc Telecom after being awarded The Gold Label for five consecutive years.
